1st Birthday Celebration

It was my niece Victoria's first birthday today. My sister in law is Korean, so this birthday celebration for Victoria was a very important one due to Korean tradition.  There was a party for her and she was given a lot of beautiful gifts.  If you would like to know a little more about the Korean first birthday traditions, you can find some information here:

This is the card I made for my beautiful little niece. This was another small one, measuring 100 x 105mm.
Patterned Paper - First Edition 'Animal Antics' 8x8
Stamp - 'The Wild Ones' by Adam Pescott (from Quick Cards magazine) coloured with ProMarkers
Flowers & seam binding - Wild Orchid Crafts
Bakers twine from a shop on eBay (sorry, can't remember the name at the moment!)
Doily - Wilton Enterprises, 4 inch diameter.  I inked it as it was white.
Flat-backed adhesive pearls - The Hobby House
The 'V' and '1' are from the 'Upon a Time' alphabet die from Sizzix Decorative Strip (Tim Holtz Alterations)
I used a Martha Stewart punch for the edge of the patterned paper
Distress Inks used - Ranger Tim Holtz 'Bundled Sage', 'Tattered Rose' & 'Antique Linen'
Dies used - Spellbinders Nestabilities : Lacey Circles, Classic Scalloped Circles Large and Standard Circles Large
It was a very special occasion and I think Victoria thoroughly enjoyed all her presents!

An update on the job front - one of my colleagues in the sales office has resigned.  So we were all hauled in and told how terribly lucky we are 'for the moment' and the situation will be reviewed again in a few months time.  So in other words, they're still aiming on getting rid of one more person but there's a couple months breathing space.  Oh, and 'you're very lucky to have a job' was the speech we got, coupled with 'longer hours are expected' as the workload will be given to yours truly and maybe one other person in the office (along with what we currently do).  We don't however get paid for the longer hours.  It's just expected.  Ho hum.

There's been some wonderful jobs advertised in the papers the last few weeks - wish me luck everyone!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate it.

Take care.

Friday is ~

I've had a crap week at work.  We were called in for a meeting and told that the company isn't doing well financially blah blah and that our department - sales - is over-staffed.  So definitely one, possibly more, will be made redundant.  So all that starts on Monday.  You know, I've been through this a couple of times in my life and it never gets easier.

I went to my Tai Chi class last night (only started last week, so this was my second class) and I was so angry and frustrated with everything going on that I couldn't concentrate.  I didn't enjoy the class and came away feeling so irritated. I had to remind myself when I got home to take a step back and BREATHE.  What will be, will be.  I've had so much happen in my life and I've always coped.  I don't want to spend my days being angry or getting bitter like some of the other ladies I work with.  I have been using positive affirmations for about a month now, and saying them last night helped me realise that positive thought makes all the difference - new doors and opportunities are opening for me if I only choose to see!

Anyway, enough rambling.  On to my card for today.  It is my sisters birthday today and this is the card I made for her.
Patterned papers - Webster's pages Petite Papers 'Western Romance'
Digital stamp - Mo's Digital Pencil - such a talented artist, I just love her artwork!  Coloured with ProMarkers.
'It's Your Day' stamp - Lili of the Valley
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Distress INk - 'Tattered Rose' by Tim Holtz Ranger
I used the Spellbinders NEstabilities 'Standard Circles Large' and 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large' dies to cut the image and mat it.
Dies used inside - Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large' and 'Lacey Circles'

Rubber stamp - Lili of the Valley
Paper punch (lace design on edge) - Martha Stewa

Well that's it for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Take care.

Shabby vintage

I spent this past week-end catching up on watching Supernatural, Season 7.  I love this series - it of course helps that Jensen Ackles is a seriously fine man to look at!!  =)  I got cracking on cutting and inking pages for the journal I won and have made some good progress with that.  More pictures to follow soon!

I have a shabby vintage style card to share today.
Patterned paper is from Alla-Prima 6x6" paper stack
Ribbon, lace & twine from my stash
Paper flower from Wild Orchid Crafts
Flat backed pearls from The Hobby House
Grungy stamp on left & ticket stamp are both from Lili of the Valley
Vintage-style postcard was downloaded from The Graphics Fairy
Washi tape is from Papernation

I inked the pages with 'Tea Dye' Distress Ink from Tim Holtz Ranger
I had the blue mini letter stickers in my stash - think it was from a free gift that came with a magazine but I can't remember which one.

Well I had better get to bed.  It's been a hectic week so far with no sign of improvement.

Thanks for stopping by.
Take care
