Challenge #13 – Add A BIG Number or Letter

Hi everyone.  The challenge over at Cuddly Buddly this week is to add a BIG number or letter to your card.  You can find details here:  http://blog.cuddlybuddly.com/

Here is my creation =)  This is my first attempt at an easel card and I'm rather proud of the results.  It was Denise over at http://densinkyfingers.blogspot.com/  who inspired me to attempt an easel card.  So thank you Denise :-)  I enjoyed it so much that I will be making a lot more easel cards I think.

Right, so the patterned paper I used is from First Edition PAper 'Animal Antics' Premium Paper Pad (I seem to be using this a lot lately!)
All the plain colour card is from my stash.
Stamp is from Penny Black 'Wonderful Day' set.  I adore hedgehogs and this is my most recent purchase - and a favourite one already.  I coloured the images using ProMarkers, and used FlowerSoft in Chestnut for the hoggies 'spikes'.
I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Standard Circles Large' for the circle around the stamp, combined with the Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Petite Scalloped Circles Large' die.
I die cut another scalloped circle using the Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Scalloped Circles Large' die and then embossed it using a Craft Concepts embossing folder called 'Budding Vine'.
Large chipboard letter, paper flowers, brads, leaves and seam binding from my stash.  I coloured the seam binding using a ProMarker.
The tag was die cut with a Sizzix Alterations 'Tiny Tabs & Tags die'.
Font on tag is Bleeding Cowboy downloaded free from the internet
I made this for a young lady that I work with - she recently turned 20 and has just passed her drivers licence, and bought herself a car.  She's really proud of her achievements and I'm pleased to say that the card was a hit.

Sorry I've been a bit quieter the last few weeks.  Lots going on but I will do my utmost to start posting more regularly again.  As always, I am really grateful that you take the time to stop by and leave comments.  Enjoy your week!

Weekly Card Challenges

The challenge over at Cuddly Buddly this week is 'A Recipe'.  This involves using three patterned papers, two embellies & a ribbon.

You can find details for the challenge here:  http://blog.cuddlybuddly.com/

All papers used (including the plain colour) are from First Edition Paper - 'Animal Antics' paper pad.  As some of these papers are double-sided, the plain blue-ish green colour works well with the patterned papers.
I inked all the papers with 'Bundled Sage' Ranger Distress Ink.
Stamp is 'Sitting Pretty' by Sugar Nellie, which I coloured with ProMarkers.
Circle cut around the girl was done with the X-Cut shape-cutting system and the rest cut by hand.  Scalloped circle behind was cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles Large.
I just love my dimensional magic (hehe) so used some on the girl's shoes and hair ribbons to make them stand out.
Flower/Daisy Punch on the side is from Martha Stewart.
Flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts.
Ribbon and heart pin from my stash.

I'd also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Creatilicious Challenges - #26 'Anything Goes'
http://creataliciouschallenges.blogspot.com/2011/09/challenge-26.html

The Squirrel and the Fox - #1 'Anything Goes'

Thanks so much for looking.

Cuddly Buddly Challenge #11 “Add A Tag”

The challenge over at Cuddly Buddly this week is 'Add a Tag'.
You can find details over at Cuddly Buddly's blog, which can be found here:  http://blog.cuddlybuddly.com/

And here is my card:

Sorry about the washed out colours - using my camera flash kind of lights up the colours too much, and using no flash means a very yellowish/brown looking card...  Anyone with any tips on photographing cards at night?  =)

The image is from Lili of the Valley pre-coloured 'Cute Squares Vintage Boys' die-cut squares. I then die-cut the square into a circle using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Large die - second to largest circle.
Matted onto a scalloped circle die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles Large die - second to largest size.  I added more colour to the image with some ProMarkers and inked the edge with 'Old Paper' Distress Ink from Ranger.
Patterned paper is from First Edition Paper 'Animal Antics' 8x8 Paper Pad.  The four squares of patterned paper were also inked with 'Old Paper' Distress ink as mentioned above.
Ribbon, bee charm, brad all from my stash.
I die-cut the green tag using a Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations die - 'Tiny Tabs & Tags' (657188).
The 'Wishing you Happiness' sentiment is from a larger circular stamp from Lili of the Valley - I cut out the bit I wanted and stuck it onto the tag.

Well that's it!  Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave comments. I appreciate it :)

11 September 2011

I've been quiet this week, sorry about that.  Been one of those weeks when there's just never enough time in the day and you feel like you have not had enough sleep each night =)  Hey ho!

This post today is about a whole bunch of things, other than crafting I'm afraid!  First, I want to remember the 300 dogs who helped with search and rescue on this day ten years ago.  Those dogs were amazing and saved so many lives.  I wanted to share links to two sites with details about the incredible work they did on that awful day.

Be warned, the video on this may make your eyes leak ;)

I visited St Ives in Cambs today, as they have been celebrating its heritage this week-end.  The early 15th century chapel on the bridge - the only midstream bridge chapel in England - was open to the public this week-end and I jumped at the opportunity to visit.  The other three chapels in England - in Wakefield, Rotherham and Bradford-on-Avon, are at one end of their bridges, so this chapel is truly special.

There were loads of swans out on the Great River Ouse today!
 The amazing old chapel.
The swans here are really tame and not as fierce as some I've come across.
Some of the old buildings along the river.
I love seeing this dog in a boat with his owner - he looks so happy....
And a closer look at the happy doggie - looks like he's contemplating jumping in!

The Great River Ouse - what a beautiful view!

How lucky am I to have seen all these beautiful sights today?  I hope you and yours had a wonderful week-end.  Thanks for stopping by.

Cardmaking & Papercraft Sketch Challenge

Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine have a sketch challenge each month, and I made my card for it today.

You can find the details here:  http://www.cardmakingandpapercraft.com/challenge/sketch-challenge-8

The sketch is as follows:

And this is my card creation:
I used a Lili of the Valley Cute Squares from the 'Party Girls' pack.  I die cut it using a 'Labels One' die from Spellbinders Nestabilities and die cut a bigger size with the same die out of red card.
I added some more colours to the image with ProMarkers and used dimensional magic on the little girls shoes, alice band and on the dotty present.  I also used some Ranger Stickles in Star Dust on her skirt and the pom-poms on her alice band.
Lace from my stash.
Black & white ribbon is from Paperchase.
Red & White Bakers Twine is from Wild Orchid Crafts.
Sentiment stamp is from Lili of the Valley.

And here's a close up of the lovely glossy look of the dimensional magic, and the nice glittery skirt :)
Hope you're all having a fantastic week-end.  Thanks for stopping by.

Say Something Nice

So I totally missed the deadline for the Cuddly Buddly Challenge this week.  It's a pity as the theme was 'Say Something Nice' which I really liked.  Anyway.  Seen as I have only finished my card about 15 minutes ago I thought I'd share it anyway.

The black base card and all the bright pieces of card were in my stash.  Unfortunately there is no details on them.
I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities Decorative Elements die - Eyelet Squares - to cut out the big red square on my Big Shot.
Digital stamp is from Mo's Digital Pencil - http://digitalpenciltoo.com/
Coloured the image with ProMarkers
Stars die-cut with my Big Shot using the Sizzix Framelits stars die

Well, that's all for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment.  I really appreciate it.
