Birthdays, Xmas and Happy Videos

Wow, when Blogger doesn't want to work it becomes a real pain, doesn't it?  I've been trying since yesterday afternoon to add photos to my blog post . . . no luck.  I went so far as to re-start my computer this morning after logging out of everything - still nothing!  Desperate measures resulted in me clicking on 'Add Selected' about 4/5 times in quick succession to insert one photo - occasionally I was lucky and had the photo attached once.  Other times, I ended up with three copies and just deleted the extras.  Hehe.  So without further ado - we have photos at last.  Yay!

It was my Mom's birthday yesterday, here is the card I made for her.

The image is a pre-coloured die-cut from LOTV which I added my trusty Stickles 'Star Dust' glitter glue, to add some sparkle.  I die cut the original square into a circle using a Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Large die. I then matted it with a Spellbinders Nestabilities Petite Scalloped Circles Large die.
The pink and dotted brown card was die cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Labels One' dies.
Sentiment stamp is from Lili of the Valley.  I used the smallest die from my 'Lacey Circles' set of Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut it out.  I really like that the LOTV stamps fit perfectly in the smallest Spellbinders dies - really handy!
Patterned papers are from First Edition Paper 'Desert Blooms' Paper pad.  Love the quality of this card, and the texture of the glittered pages.
Pink card and paper lace from my stash.
Flowers also from my stash, but all bought from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Think the flowers include the following: cherry blossoms (pink & green), Aster Daisies (small white ones on the bottom left), Tulips and the large white flower is a Gardenia.

This is the first time I've added so many flowers to a card.  I watched a You Tube tutorial made by Bev Rochester on how she adds her flowers and used it as a guide to try this out.  The tutorial can be found by clicking on this link:

I also had to show you the xmas stocking I bought for my doggie Maximus =)

These are being sold in aid of the charity Nowzad, which is very close to my heart.  Nowzad was started by a soldier who served in Afghanistan.  He now helps many soldiers of any nationality who have rescued animals and want to send them back to their country and give them a forever home.  What they do is absolutely amazing and inspiring and it's just wonderful to know there are such good people in this world.

These xmas stockings for pets are available for dogs and cats, are only £3.50 each and there is FREE p&p.  I bought it on eBay here:

Lastly, I thought I'd share a wonderful video that a friend posted on Facebook.  It is very special.  Be warned, some people get misty eyed when watching it!  You can view it here:

I hope you're all having a wonderful week-end.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

I wanted to share this photo - this graphiti is on a random building on the edge of the motorway, between Barhill and Fenstanton in Cambridgeshire.  It makes me smile every time I see it.  'You are now leaving the future' . . .  the person who did it must have a good sense of humour =)

I hope you've had a good week-end.

I have another Christmas card to post today.  I decided on a plain and simple design for this.

Image is a Lili of the Valley die-cut, which I then die-cut into a circle using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Large set.
I coloured the image more using ProMarkers, added some Stickles 'Star Dust' for the snowflakes and on the fluffy bits of clothing.
The gold glitter design is a Papermania 'Floral Accents Glitter Transfer' rub-on.
I don't know how clear the photo is, but the backing white card is embossed with 'Merry Christmas' and has little trees on it too.  I edged the card in gold.
Red ribbon from my stash.

I thought I'd share this gorgeous and cute image.  Isn't it precious?

Thanks so much for looking. Have a good week!

12 October 2011

I made a start on my Christmas cards.  I am not usually this organised, and tend to leave things to the last minute so that friends in South Africa and Australia receive their cards a few days after xmas (oops!).  But not this year.  Besides, I think my friends in the summer heat of SA and Oz don't always want to see xmas scenes full of snow!  So I am working on a good mix of cards which will have both scenes of snow and more general themes.

This is a LOTV die cut image which I have coloured some more with my ProMarkers.  I also die cut it from a square into a circle using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Large die set.
Scalloped circle in red was die cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles Large.
Patterned xmas papers are from a Forever Friends 'Cosy Christmas' 6x6 paper pack (which I paid £1.00 for at a car boot market, still in its original packaging.  Score!  =D  )
Poinsettias are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I removed the plastic yellow centres and replaced them with brads, then glittered them up using Stickles in Star Dust.
Ribbon and plain red card from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.
